Hey guys. Just thought I would remind you it is Australia Day on Sunday 26th January. This Sunday the Australia Day Fiesta is being held here in Angeles. This is run by the Angeles City RSL Sub-Branch which I am a member of. There will be up to 50 Stalls set up along Walking Street in Fields Ave. Their will be businesses including the local clubs that will have stalls set up there. There of course will be plenty of alcohol sold as well as a chilli cook off competition and plenty of entertainment. If you notice in the clubs at the moment the girls are selling raffle tickets for this event. The clubs and girls help us out every year. All money raised on the day and from the Monster Raffle are used to purchase:
Medicines
Wheel Chairs
Nebulizers
Funds for the fitting of hearing aids
Funds for cleft pallet operations
Mosquito nets have been provided to hundreds of indigent families and has been very effective in reducing dengue fever in the poverty areas.
Working with Rotary Club of Mabalacat we also have funded lifesaving heart operations for children. We have sponsored two children by funding the travel expenses for them and a parent to travel to India for the lifesaving operations.
The medical missions are held almost monthly in and around Angeles city at different barangay basketball courts in conjunction with barangay officials to control the expected 1,000 average gathering for examination by volunteer doctors and nurses and RSL members with their partners.
So get out and celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January and not only enjoy yourself but know you will be helping 1,000's of disadvantaged children as well. Of course drinking plenty of grog is compulsory. That's what we Aussies like to do.
