Angeles City is a boring during the day and I wanted to go see some of the country. Being a single person, it was hard to find a day trip at a reasonable price. Most of the trips require 3-4 minimum. You can book a single but wind up paying through the nose. I had wanted to see Puning hot springs but could not find a trip where I could join a group. They did however have a trip to Mt. Pinatubo that I could join as the fourth person. The price was 2500 peso. Talking to one of the other passengers, he says they charged him more. I suspect that he was the third to sign up so got the rate for 3 people. He was going to ask the tour desk why and get the difference refunded.....bet I can guess how that turned out. :-).
Pickup at my hotel was 5 am. Driver was on time and we went to get the others. Second passenger was quick but the third and fourth were lost and took over 30 minutes to find. They were told the wrong place to wait and so in the end, we finally left AC around 6:15. The trip to the 4x4 transfer took about 1 1/2 hours. Once registered and waivers signed, we piled into the jeep.
The jeep ride is about 25 Km's and bumpy. The day I went, it was raining so by the time we got to the trail head, we were all soaked.
Once at the Jeep parking lot, it was another 1 1/2 hour walk to the crater. Not too difficult but you do go through lots of water so be prepared to get wet.
It was still wet and cloudy when we reached the crater. We were there about 45 minutes and the clouds finally started to lift just as we were about to leave.
The trip was perfect for me since the clouds kept the heat down and the rain made it less dusty in the Jeep.
