Mambucal resort. It's on the side of the Canloon volcano. Most likely my favorite place in the PI. It's a government own resort. And most of Canloon is a protected natural area. You can kind of get a idea what the jungle is like there. Lots of very large trees and many have signs identifying species and what commercial value and uses. Done by the Boy Scouts. I'm facinated by hot springs. Been searching them out the past few trips. This one is tops so far. A bunch of pictures for you. These are taken over a two year period. Most 2013 but the most recent in Feb this year.
That's it from the car. Surrounded by vast sugar cane fields. You'll even pass a Tanduey distiller on the way. The Canloon is a huge massif that cuts Negroes in half.
At the entrance.
A little map. It's nice to walk around the place. Clean air.
And loads of these. The claim was that it's the largest bat colonies in the PI. Interesting to watch them.
Bats in trees.
Bats get active at sunset. But will still move around even in mid day.
And there are 7 waterfalls. We only seen 3 of them. After #3 the trail gets real steep, and it is hot and humid as shit. They tell you not to swim, but there is no one to stop you.
Classic lava formation. Don't know when it could have been made. The volcano is old and has hade many past eruptions. Some supposed to be catastorphic.
Another waterfall.
You will need repellent at night.
And watch this guy eat bugs. He is bigger than the picture does justice. At least 12 inches long.
The room we had last year. Nice room with ac, hot water, ref, couch, veranda with table chairs and bbq pits. No tv or phone. There is wifi at the food court.
A concrete bridge with a swallow colony underneath. They dart back and forth. Fast little things.
And the reason to go. The hot springs. There are two pools that you can bath in. And a cold water swimming pool also. There is a massage place also. I say massage first then the pool. No there is no happy ending!
The end of the bus run from Bacolod is at the gate of Mambucal. Only a hour or so from the city. A easy trip. Lots of people on weekends. Empty during the weekdays.
Hope this comes out better than i think. The damn flash!
Also a lake created by a dam. There are paddle boats, zip line, butterfly garden, ect. Though not available on week days.
The outside of our room this trip. The cottages are nice. There is primitive camping and a lodge. Cheaper but I didn't see the inside.
Inside. Yeah we went one a weekend and had to take a roo with 4 singles? what D puck?
Plan ahead for that one. All in all a place I would definately go back too. Perfect for families. If you self drive bring your own food and BBQ. There is a food court with a surprising selection of seafood considering your on the side of a volcano. Also all local beers and booze available at reasonable prices. If you want imports bring your own. Also all done on cash basis, no cc. There is a group of sari stores at the entrance. Filipino stuff all the way. This trip was surprising as there were large tour buses full of Koreans. I didn't know Bacolod was popular with them. Maybe like tour packages or some thing. The place is great if your into nature and kicking back and relaxing.
