I have many many years in my milage travelling all over asia. Most time spent in Thailand and China. I dare not even say how many years ago it was since I first set foot in Thailand. But let me give a hint and say at that time there were still plenty of US soldiers stopping for a while before returning home from Vietnam. I met many of these guys and with very few exceptions they were great people. With terrible experiences. I am from Sweden so both asia and the USA is quite a bit away from us.
What I noted in Thailand is that it used to be a lot of americans, australians, english and german people visiting. Still there are these nations visiting of course but it has changed a lot. And not for the better. Nowadays the russians are invading the kingdom and that is not positive. We who come from countries very close to Russia know how they are and wherever they start to turn up - we leave and go elsewhere! For instance has Pattaya been more or less turned into an unflushed toilet over only the past 10 years.
But what about Philippines? I have never been there and premiere visit is next month - since I am starting to be bored with LOS a bit - and when reading blogs and forums I get the feeling that most guys are from US and Australian gentlemen? Am I right? Or do you see many other nations there as well? In Thailand you can now see a clear increase in visitors from China, Japan and Korea. Is this the situation in PI as well?
