ANGELES CITY - The chairman of Barangay Malabanias said prostitution and human trafficking should end at least in his village which has numerous night clubs, hotels, and other entertainment establishments.
Malabanias Chairman Reynaldo Gueco said they are enforcing City Ordinance Number 43-10 Series of 1995, an ordinance prohibiting the payment of bar fine or escort fee or similar activity commonly imposed on customers or privilege to take out women employees of night clubs, cocktails lounges, bars, pub houses, beer houses, sing-along pubs, karaoke pubs and sauna baths, hotels, motels, and other entertainment recreational establishments.
Gueco said the barangay council informed bar owners and managers that it is enforcing the ordinance and Barangay Resolution Number 14 Series of 2014, a resolution prescribing guidelines in the conduct of inspection of establishments and individual doing business activity within the jurisdiction of Barangay Malabanias particularly business and working clearance.
Gueco said he directed the bar owners to comply with the resolution and ordinance starting on April 21.
The Malabanias Tourist and Business Establishment Task Force (Matbe Task Force) are inspecting establishments at the entertainment district, according to the village chief.
However, Gueco lamented that the city police is threatening to arrest members of the Matbe Task Force if bar owners, who claimed that they are being harassed by barangay officers, will complain about the village council regulation.
Gueco stressed that they are helping the City Government in enforcing the
ordinance to prevent prostitution, human trafficking, exploitation of minors and other problems.
He said Angeles must get out of its image as "sin city."
Gueco said he is coordinating with the leaders of Barangay Balibago, which covers majority of the city’s entertainment district including Fields Avenue, in terms of regulating night clubs.
Fields Avenue is host to big night clubs and restaurants, five star hotels and other recreational facilities
