The first time I went to the Philippines, I went to Boracay, and I was lucky enough to find the Balinghai Beach Resort.
It was a dream. It was a house on a steep hill covered with tropical trees, with paths leading down to a private beach. Fresh fruit drinks were served from the beach bar, the meals that were cooked at the top of the hill and lowered down to the bottom in a basket from a rope and pulley. Not far from the beach is a cave, that you would discover only when you explore, with birds that acted like bats, and it is the perfect place to make love, if you bring a blanket in a bag.
Wifi was claimed, but the Hill House was out of range of the wifi signal. I could get wifi only at the top of the hill next to the lobby. For international travellers, it matters, because a lot of expense is accumulated by communicating on roaming.
