AirAsia Inc., the Philippine unit of AirAsia Berhad of Malaysia, will temporarily stop its domestic and international flights from Clark International Airport to cut losses incurred by affiliate Zest Airways Inc.

In a Philippine Star report, chief executive officer Marianne Hontiveros said the airline is in the midst of winding up its domestic and international operations after she received an order from AirAsia Berhad to cut losses in the Philippines.

She said AirAsia Philippines will suspend Clark-Kalibo and Clark-Davao flights on October 8, and Clark-Taipei and Clark-Hong Kong flights on November 6, the report said.

Meanwhile, Clark-Hong Kong flights will resume between December 20 and 26 for the Christmas season according to Hontiveros, the report added.

Last August 16, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines suspended ZestAir on six aviation safety concerns in violation of the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulation.

AirAsia Philippines is 40 percent owned by AirAsia Berhad, 60 percent is controlled by Filipino investors including Hontiveros, Antonio “Tonyboy” Cojuangco Jr., and Michael Romero.
