find Philippines Addict a really good, informative forum seems friendly and laid-back so thought I'd ask a few questions that maybe the more experienced board members can help answer. I have been to Angeles City a few times as a side trip from a main stay in Thailand but for next trip in September was thinking about going direct to Philippines (from London)
1) Found that Emirates have flights to Clark from London at reasonable times and pricing not to bad, has anybody used this route?
2) How do Emirates compare in terms of reliability, comfort, etc. ? (previously used EVA to Bangkok and Tiger to Clark and a bit pi**ed off at them often cancelling/changing flights/times)
Since this will be a slightly longer break in Philippines (currently trying to decide between 14-21 days) was thinking of taking a break from Angeles City maybe spending a few days (4-5 sort of taster to see if I like it) in Subic and have a couple of questions about such a break. I tend to prefer comfortable hotels and was trying to decide between:
Wild Orchid Beach Resort
Mangrove Resort
Subic Grand Seas Resort
any recommendations, experiences, alternative choices welcome...
3) These hotels appear to be situated on Baloy Beach, which looking at the maps difficult to determine just how far they are from evening entertainment? is it walk-able?
4) Are there trikes available for the journey? (particularly homeward bound in later evening/morning) if so, what is typical cost?
5) Are any of these hotels not guest friendly? Just wondering, as looked as though maybe Subic is more of conventional tourist destination than mongering destination (seemed to be more couple/family than solo travellers hotel reviews on Agoda)
6) Does Subic and I guess Angeles City have a low season in similar style as Thailand when many of the girls go home and the choice is reduced?
7) Should I find a suitable companion in Angeles City to take to Subic or are there likely to be sufficient about in September? Just wondering as in the bar guide seems like many bars have 'no entertainers' which I assume means take-aways and the whole bar-fine/EWR thing seems confusing with some bar groups having a no bar fine/EWR/drink policy.
8) What is the weather like that time of year? Can see it is likely to be humid but is the rain likely to be continuous or more periodic?
